This exciting project for a global client must stay confidential but I would like to share the process. The packaging is the first my client has ever made, and we started the project by finding out which values the box should communicate and what the consumers expected from this brand.

The sustainability value was very important, and the entire packaging was made from recyclable cardboard and paper, except for a thin plastic PET film on the outside to protect the box during shipping. It is a white hard box with only the logotype printed on the lid and all the communication placed on an exchangeable sleeve. To secure the two main products, we needed a thermoformed insert which was made from sugarcane pulp.

The kit contains a lot of accessories which are placed in a white cardboard insert with grids and individual compartments for each accessory. The type of accessory is printed on each compartment lid to make it easy for the consumer to find the right accessory. All the accessories are shaped differently and must be stabilized in the insert, which was a challenge. In the end the paper insert was made of one single piece of paper and folded together with the grid.

The production and kitting were carried out in China so a large part of the production work was to communicate with the Chinese suppliers and production company to secure the materials and production quality. I also handled cost discussions, packaging specifications, bar code labels, packing instructions and transportation boxes.
